Erasmus Mundus Programme in Sport and Exercise Psychology selects its first students
The European Masters in Sport and Exercise Psychology programme, offered jointly by four European universities and coordinated by the University of Jyväskylä, has selected the first group of students, who will start their studies in autumn 2010.
- We are very pleased with the high level of applicants, says coordinator of the EMSEP programme, Professor Taru Lintunen from the University of Jyväskylä. - New inquiries about study possibility in the EMSEP programme arrive daily and we expect to receive many more applications for the next application round. This shows that there is a great interest from around the world for studying sport and exercise psychology in Europe, rejoices Lintunen.
Partners in the EMSEP programme are the universities of Lund (Sweden), Leipzig (Germany) and Thessaly (Greece). The consortium selected in total 21 students, representing 18 different nationalities from all over the world. All the selected students will be awarded an Erasmus Mundus scholarship offered by the European Commission, which amounts to a total of 47,000 euro for the non-EU/EEA nationals and 19,000 euro for the EU/EEA nationals.
The European Masters in Sport and Exercise Psychology was selected in July 2009 into the Erasmus Mundus Programme funded by the European Commission. Erasmus Mundus is a worldwide cooperation and mobility programme, which aims at enhancing quality in higher education and promoting intercultural understanding.
- Our EMSEP programme will be truly international thanks to the students and teachers coming from all over the world. In addition to European professors and lecturers, the students will benefit from teaching provided by renowned experts coming from universities outside Europe, praises Professor Lintunen.
The tight scheduled, 120 ECTS credit programme lasts for two years and is conducted fully in English. The programme includes studies in at least two of the network’s universities. Graduates will receive Master’s degrees from two universities, from their home university as well as from their exchange university.
